Japan has everything; from stylish cities and snow capped mountains to remote idyllic islands. And the best part is...it's like no stylish city, mountain resort or idyllic island you will have ever visited - Japan is beautifully unique. 

What to do

If you're willing to fly for 14 hours, then you need to make sure you allow enough time to explore everything this country has to offer (minimum stay 10 days). Tokyo is a must, foodies will be in heaven with the city boasting more Michelin starred restaurants than any other in the world. If you like fashion then try the bi-monthly Harajuku carnival for the bizarre and wonderful. It is also definitely worth a trip to some of the more remote islands to the south such as Naoshima. 

When to visit 

Try to avoid the rainy season in June and July - spring and autumn are good options. If you can make the blossom festival season in March then you're in for a treat (although be warned that prices can be inflated). 

Portugal is often overlooked as a honeymoon destination, with people favouring neighbouring Spain.  But this country has more of offer with its stunning coastline, historic cities, quality local wine and cuisine. 

What to do
Visit Sintra for understated romance; this small town and its surrounding area has been designated a world UNESCO site. The area has everything from sun kissed beaches to national parks, historic castles and a palace. Stay in one of the bespoke hotels luxury hotels such as the Trivoli Palacio De Seteais for ultimate decadence.  Lisbon is only a 30 minute journey away making it ideal for a day trip. Experience the charming architecture, cafe culture and the old world romance that this city has to offer. 

When to visit

Portugal is warm all year round but for the best temperatures go between May - October.  If going during the winter months and want sun then keep to the south such as the Algarve or the island of Madeira. 

Forget the theme parks because Florida has much more to offer than people think...its cool architecture with art deco influences, wildlife, stunning beaches and stylish cities make it a great option for your honeymoon. 

What to do

If you want to avoid the crowds of Orlando and the theme parks then travel south to Marco Island.  Located in the Gulf of Mexico and accessible to the main land via a bridge this island is criss-crossed with waterways, offering white sandy beaches and a more relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to go down to the water to spot the beautiful sea manatees and dolphins which inhabit the local waters.  Miami is well worth a visit with its art deco influences and stylish city vibe. Try Juvia's rooftop bar for one of the best (and most potent) cocktails in town. 

When to visit

April and May are ideal months to visit; the weather is good and it's not as busy as the summer months. Avoid hurricane season between August and October. 

If you want culture, paired with stunning scenery, amazing food and great hospitality then Morocco needs to be on your shortlist of options. 

What to do

Go for a two stop holiday to ensure you make the most of this beautiful country. Start with a few days in the cultural mecca of Marrakesh and then travel into the Atlas mountains to the exclusive resort of Kasbah Tamadot for a week of ultimate relaxation. 

When to visit

April and May are probably the best times to visit for temperatures; Marrakech can get unbearably hot in high summer and the mountain / desert resorts can get cold if you go Autumn and Winter months. 

A truly cosmopolitan city with fun, illumination and fusion at its heart; and it's surprisingly romantic. 

What to do

Where to start...head up to Victoria Peak for panoramic views and to help you get your bearings, take a picnic and enjoy its tranquility in an otherwise bustling city. If you want to embrace your inner child then head to the islands Disney resort or for a more secluded day head to Lamma island.  

When to visit

Temperatures between October - March are most comfortable although if you are willing to put with the humidity and visit in June, try to catch the Dragon Boat Carnival - a true exhibit of colours, culture and athleticism.  

This really is a breakaway from tradition but it will be a honeymoon you never forget. Think amazing scenery, whale watching, great food and the finest service. 

What to do

The southest of Alaska has the most to offer in terms of scenery and wildlife and is where most cruises focus. These areas are mostly inaccessible by car so a boat is the perfect and only way to visit. Try a helicopter ride to the Hubbard glacier or go husky sledding.  Most cruise's sail from Vancouver so build a few nights into your honeymoon to explore this port city. 

When to visit

The Alaskan cruise season usually runs from May to September, with the best time to spot wildlife being July and August. Even in these summer months the temperatures can get cool and rain levels are unpredictable.
