We absolutely LOVE the bridal treasures we stock by Jo Barnes Vintage. Each hair accessory, such as the stunning Audrey Headband modelled below, has been lovingly handcrafted using beautiful vintage relics, adding a really special touch to your vintage bridal look. Audrey As with all things vintage, we love finding out the tales behind each piece, so we were delighted to catch up with Jo Barnes, who revealed the inspiration behind her beautiful hair accessories. Tell us a bit about yourself I am an extremely happy lady who gets to create beautiful accessories for a living and have a pretty damn great hubby who I adore and is so supportive of what I do, what more can a girl want? I also own a payroll bureau so you could say life is pretty hectic right now as well as that I am an exercise freak, I love running it’s the best stress reliever and also means you can eat lots of chocolate which I LOVE... What made you decide to design vintage inspired bridal accessories? I designed and created my vintage bouquet and headdress for our wedding in 2009 from my Nana’s vintage brooches I then realised I had a hidden talent for creating beautiful sparkly things and that’s when Jo Barnes begun. I have always adored all things vintage and love anything that sparkles so I am very lucky to be doing something I have such a passion for. What inspires you when designing? I absolutely adore the sophisticated charm of the 30s this is my favourite era but I also love the art deco elegance of the roaring 20s and the timeless glamour of the 40s. The beauty, the glitz and the pure elegance of these bygone eras are a true inspiration to me… What’s your favourite piece in your collection? Grace would have to be my favourite piece, it’s elegant but also makes a statement and has incredible sparkle… Grace Describe your perfect wedding. My wedding of course!!! A small intimate wedding abroad with close friends and family and lots of yummy food and drink… Just perfect!! What is your favourite bridal style (past, present or future)? The 1930s, pure elegance… What's the best advice you could give any bride-to-be? Always buy your gown first…. Then accessorise it with bling!!! Your dress is your main feature you can then choose accessories to compliment this. If you could describe Jo Barnes Vintage in 3 words, what would they be? Beautiful Glamorous Headdresses What does vintage mean to you?
