Mismatching Bridesmaid Styles

Long gone are the days when bridesmaid dresses needed to be formal and uniform - 2016 has seen a trend for mismatching bridesmaid styles that reflect the personalities of the bride and her maids. This can be as subtle or as dramatic as you like, with options for alternative colours, styles and even patterns. Differing style dresses are a great way of finding outfits that suit the individuals body shape, colouring and preferences and the best bit is that mismatched styles look great!

Read on for some of our favourite ways and tips on how to style the uncoordinated look...

If you have a fixed colour scheme for your wedding then introduce variances through different tones of the same colour.  This works well if the dresses are identical or if you have different style dresses. If you want to ensure there is a common theme to tie it all together then pick out a complementary tone for the flowers to unify the look between the bride and the bridesmaids.

Up the style stakes with the introduction of florals. Use small prints in pastels to create a boho feel or for a more vintage look use larger prints in contrasting colours. If dressing all your bridal party in floral looks too much then pick a matching colour and alternate between some floral and some plain dresses.

What is better than a rainbow of colour on your wedding day?! Use your bridesmaids to introduce more colour; we wouldn't recommend mixing jewel tones with pastels so instead keep to one area of the colour spectrum (i.e. all pastels or all bolder jewel tones).

Two pieces are great way to enable your bridesmaids to choose an outfit that suits their individual styles whilst still creating an overall coordinated look. You can mix tones, necklines, sleeve length and skirts - just keep one constant feature to tie the whole look together.

Accessories are a fun and easy way to add interest to your bridal party look. If you want to add colour to your big day but are nervous about it overpowering your theme, then choosing a few accessories are a great and flexible choice. The options are endless...shoes, flowers, hair accessories, underskirts, clutch bags...!
